Make a Terrarium
A blogging friend of mine, Amy, of DesignDNA, told me how to make a terrarium. We're big fans of products that involve "treasure" here at Casapinka, so I grabbed my daughter, told her to get some treasure and off we went.
I bought this glass bowl for $9.95 at TJMaxx.
We laid out our treasure for the terrarium - I managed to talk Juniorette out of the brass lamp finial.
We bought four succulent plants - one for each member of the family.
First you lay the rocks on the bottom - they absorb the water.
Next, you place a layer of soil and plant your plants
We then watered the soil and placed our treasure inside.
Yes, that is Hello Kitty peaking out from the left corner. My daughter insisted.
I like the combination of hello kitty and the girafe.

I remember having a terrarium when I was a kid. We had little ceramic turtles in it. Yours is much more fun. :)

What a cute idea and so easy!!! I've been tempted to do one of these but am afraid it would get moldy or I'd kill it (like I inevitably kill ALL living things that enter my home). Let us know how it works out!!!

You wouldn't know by my lack of comment posting, but your blogs have served as my homepage for several months now. I have had an empty fishtank set up for months, (since all the fish of course eventually died), just waiting to figure out the perfect thing to do with it. So THANK YOU!!!! I did a little research and am now so excited about setting up my terrarium!! Thanks for posting!

looks like adler giraffe and hello kitty are having a little hide and go seek. well done! i like to find ways to rejuvenate treasures around the house. its fun to do and interesting to look at. other folks may have the same adler giraffe but it is not likely playing hide and seek with hello kitty.
